Inspired by Paul Drury's interior woodlands and standing stone displacements, this etching is based on a photograph of my brother and sister-in- law at the Henry Moore Foundation, just a few months before they moved up north to Cumbria. In that way it is a farewell to them. Two standing stones from Drury's etchings have migrated to the wooded lane, appropriate for this location with the Moore sculptures placed in the landscape. In the glimmer of sky, two swallows fly, feeding in preparation for their long migration south. I am particularly drawn to the more surreal elements of Drury's work, especially the transfiguration of standing stones relocated to clifftops and the mindful interior world of Mickleham Yews.
